Melissa Opening in Milan
Culture
Fans of Melissa’s plastic dreams will over the moon. Yesterday in Milan, the brand opened its first Italian mono-brand shop. Melissa has made its plastic shoes a real must-have, thanks to prestigious collaborations with Gaetano Pesce and Gareth Pugh, to name only the most recent.
The store, at 12 Via Tortona, has been created in partnership with the Italian firm Olag, and like all the brand’s flagships will have a really distinctive appeal. The interior design created by Virginia Fabri over the 80 square metres includes methacrylate strip paths with and ups and downs that create frames around Melissa’s creations. There are also “aged” portraits of the designers and stylists that the brand has worked with.
“For Melissa, Milan represents a direct point of contact with the Italian public and we think Via Tortona is a strategic area, a focus for youth design, fashion, culture and creativity,” said Armando Sartor, the head of Olang SpA. “We wanted to invest in this project to give a strong signal of our presence in this area and confirm our leadership in this segment of the market.”
